I’m always looking for a way to save time, especially during the week. That’s why I’m a meal prep lover. Meal prep really gives me the much-needed break I need on those busy days. I know when people mention meal prep they may think about repping for 2 or days of food, I like to expand that to 2 or 3 months.
I’ve been on a kick lately of prepping cooked food for my freezer as a part of my meal prep routine.
A tool that I’ve been using for the past couple of months is Souper Cubes!
Souper Cubes are freezer trays that come in square and rectangular shapes. During my nesting period before the birth of my son, Souper Cubes sent me some trays to try out and help prep my freezer for postpartum.
Things I love about Souper Cubes
- Fill lines for measurements
- Oven safe up to 415F
- Dishwasher Safe
- 100% FDA food-grade silicone and BPA-free
My initial thoughts are that souper cubes are high quality. I have a few ice cube trays that come with lids and none of them seal nearly as well as super cubes. The lids fit tight and level, which is great because I don’t have to worry about soup spills’ in my freezer. It also helps with stacking cubes and utilizing more vertical space.
Things I Like to Freeze
- Spagetti Sauce
- Chicken Noodle Soup (without noodles)
- Chilli
- Chicken Tortilla Soup
- Chicken Pot Pie Filling (without potatoes)
- Baby Food
- Pesto Sauce
- Compound Butter
- Pizza Sauce
- Herbs
Sauces and soups aside, I also like to freeze-pulled chicken from a rotisserie chicken in these. I also freeze lots of leftover staples that I want to preserve like chicken stock and crushed tomatoes.

Storage Saving
Because of the shape and size of the cubes, I end up saving so much space in the freezer. After I freeze something, I transfer it to a Ziploc or reusable freezer bag and label it. That way I can use the tray again and I can free up valuable freezer real estate!
Cleaning
Honestly, this is my favorite part about Souper Cubes. The clean-up is so easy. A quick rinse and pop them in the dishwasher! I’ve been using them for 8+ months and have never had to scrub to get them clean. It’s amazing!
On top of all the things I’ve listed, they really help me reduce food waste. Doing things like freezing the remainder of my canned contents that I don’t use in one sitting or herbs from the garden before they have a chance to die really helps me get more bang for my buck.
Overall, it’s a staple in my Kitchen from now on, and I’ve already started gifting some to friends!
