Greece is a dream destination for so many reasons. For some, it may be the beautiful blue domes in Santorini they’ve seen on Instagram or the wild stories of partying in Mykonos. For me, I’ve always been enamored with the mythical stories and history. For our honeymoon, we decided to take one of the top trips on our bucket list.
We decided not to hold off on taking a honeymoon. Life has a knack for getting in the way of things so it was now or never. About a month after we said I do, we boarded a flight for our 10-day trip to paradise.
Getting There
We flew United Airlines. I had been saving up points on my United Card for years to use them on something special. What’s the something special? Upgrading my brand new 6.5ft husband’s and I seats to first class! These tickets are PRICEY and we wouldn’t have purchased them outright but points gave us the opportunity to travel in luxury. We arrived in London, rested and well-fed and caught our connecting flight to Athens.
Where we stayed:
I did extensive research on hotel options. I wanted the most luxurious stay for the best price I could find. If you’re going super tight budget, these may not be for you. We LOVED every hotel we stayed at. The locations, staff, and rooms were literally perfect. These are listed in order of our trip.
Athens – Elia Ermou Hotel – Great location. Surrounded by shopping and food that’s all walking distance from the hotel.
Mykonos – Myconian Ambassador – Great location and beautiful views. This resort had the best customer service out of all of the places we stayed.
Santorini – Apikia – Modern and romantic. Also a very affordable option when we went. This place is pretty new and rates were half the price of the rooms in Oai.
Crete – Nana Princess – Very modern. We stayed in a beautiful swim-up room in this large property. Food was amazing.
Crete – Stella Island Resort and Spa – Beautiful Instagrammable resort and All-inclusive.
Our Favorite Places
We visited lots of great restaurants and bars. We wanted a good mix of fun and culture. These were my absolute favorites places to go and things to do.
Pasaji Mykonos – The best hookah and Mediterranean vibes!
Avli Tou Thodori – Our first and best meal on the islands. No frills, but cooked to perfection.
Mykonos Village – Great variety of places. Lots of cute small shops along with high-end stores that are good for souvenirs. I got beautiful coin purses for $2 USD each and an Off-White shirt specially made for Mykonos!
Nammos – Designer Shopping & Beach Party – Designer shopping overseas is always better! I purchased a beautiful Yves Saint Laurent bag for $300 cheaper than the U.S.
Acropolis – Historic – Amazing and once in a lifetime experience.
Oia, Santorini – Majestic views and Instagramable moments.
