.Every year, I try to go the extra mile for my partner’s birthday. We’ve had celebrations at restaurants, hookah bars, even a private room at the bowling alley. Due to the pandemic, a gathering of friends and a fun night out wasn’t a safe option. I decided to dress up at brunch at home to have a festive celebration with one friend and one family member.
Outsource What You Can
I found the key to hosting at home is outsourcing what you can! Purchasing most of the food instead of cooking can really cut down on clean up and freed up more time to decorate. I only ended up making the eggs and bacon. This is also a great tip if you’re not the best chef! There’s nothing worse than preparing food for food a get-together and it doesn’t come out good!
Presentation Matters
We live in Pinterest-inspired and Instagram-worthy times so the layout is just as important as food. Homegoods is a great place to find nice wooden platters and pyrex baking dishes that give a light clean look. Adding flowers adds a little elegance and cute happy birthday signs give an understated look.
Have Fun with It
I tend to get super stressed out when I’m planning anything. Remember that it’s the thought that counts when it comes to celebrating someone. However, things end up coming together, be happy with the fact that you took the time and went all out!
Cheers!
