I’m finishing up the nursery and decided to go really simple for the walls. Instead of painting or adding a trim design like we did in the bedroom, I opted for just adding some picture frames and calling it a day. The only issue was, how do I make it safe?
I didn’t want to use frames that have a traditional glass front out of fear that they could fall off the wall and hurt my baby. I know that you can pull the crib away from the wall and choose very secure wall hooks, but I was not willing to risk it.
So I went on the hunt for lighter frames that don’t have glass.
I found the FISKBO frames from Ikea. They have acrylic fronts and are crazily affordable. I picked them up and decided to try them out. They were definitely light enough to feel comfortable if one were to fall while my baby was in the crib. So I grabbed a few, ordered some prints from Etsy, and wanted to compare which one I liked more. I settled on a print of cars and a basketball hoop.
You can also add mats to these frames. This is a great option if you’re looking to frame pictures, instead of posters like I did.
One thing to note. The fronts of these frames are sooooo light, they’re fragile. I cracked on while trying to put in one of the prints.
I love the way these came out! They’re really simple and sleek and added the subtle touch I wanted in the nursery.
